Pressure Washing a 1st Generation Trex Deck
Trex is one of the leading manufacturers of composite decking, or sometimes called wood-alternative decking. Typically the materials consist of plastic and wood and are supposed to address the durability concerns of standard wood materials.
Maintenance on composite decking is typically less than standard wood because they resist scratching and staining. Another added benefit of composite decking is the environmental factors too. Many materials used in composite decking were going to be discarded into a landfill but instead are put to use.
When composite decking first hit the markets, they had an issue with locking mold in and became very difficult to clean over time if not properly maintained. In fact, these complaints started to get so bad that Trex finally issued a class action lawsuit, which can be found here….
After everything was blown off by a leaf blower and pre soaked with our low pressure soft wash system, we applied our solution. We next let it soak for a good 15-20 minutes before finally rinsing again.
Safe to say, these Menomonee Falls homeowners were ecstatic to see the results! They now have a freshly cleaned deck to enjoy as a family all year long.
